He served as the eighth prime minister of Vietnam from 2021 to 2026, and ranked third in the Communist Party after General Secretary T\u00f4 L\u00e2m and President L\u01b0\u01a1ng C\u01b0\u1eddng. A member of the Politburo since 2016, Ch\u00ednh is also the Vice Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council of Vietnam. He is a Member of the National Assembly and held the rank of Lieutenant General in the People's Public Security Forces. Prior to his premiership, Ch\u00ednh was the Head of the Party's Central Organizing Commission, Head of the and a former Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party (2016\u20132021). He also served as the Party Secretary (de facto Governor) of Qu\u1ea3ng Ninh province (2011\u20132015), Deputy Minister of Public Security (2010\u20132011), Head of the MPS (2010) and Deputy Head of the MPS (2006\u20132009). He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, a Doctor of Law, and an Advanced Degree in Political Theory. Ch\u00ednh holds the academic rank of Associate Professor in National Security Studies. On 5 April 2021, Ch\u00ednh became the prime minister of Vietnam, succeeding Nguy\u1ec5n Xu\u00e2n Ph\u00fac. The first year of his premiership was overshadowed by the resurgence of COVID-19 in Vietnam around April 2021.
